Social Studies: U. S. History,
World Cultures, Civics & Geography

B. A., Kentucky Wesleyan College
M. A., Western Kentucky University
I am an Oakland native, Pittsburgh
bred, and then went on to live 27 years in western
Kentucky. Now, back to my roots, I'm driven by sense
of purpose, production, and passion. My primary interests
include reading, writing, walking, nature, and just
tinkering 'round the yard.
Learning is growing. Conversely,
if one is not learning then one is not growing. My
goal is to provide an environment whereby motivation
will lead to enthusiasm for learning. We encourage
combination of creativity and discipline, which lead
to academic freedom.
I teach history by painting the
big picture. Next, by breaking it down into specific
components and concepts. Then, putting it back together
into relevent cause and effect relationships.
Teaching is to be a guide, at best
maybe a mentor. At the Oakland School we are about
academic freedom. We teach communication skills, encourage
freedom of expression, and dignity to all.
