Masks.........
A mask is an artifact normally worn
on the face, typically for protection, concealment,
performance, or amusement. Masks have been used since
antiquity for both ceremonial and practical purposes.
The assignment: design and create a
mask: human, animal, or imaginary. Students used plaster
of paris wrap, cardboard, newsprint, wire, hot glue,
feathers, beads, glitterglue, and acrylic paints to
create their designs. Students used plaster casts of
their own faces as the base for their projects. Students
hand painted and accessorized their masks, referring
to their original designs for inspiration. All of the
masks are unique and original creations.
