Celebrate Democracy Election 2004       An All School Study

Oakland School Students had a first-hand look at American democracy at work as we hosted guest speakers, discussed and explored campaign issues (especially as they apply to young persons), learned about political parties, and we cast votes in a national mock election.

On Monday, November 1, the school conducted a community service project when we placed 5,000 hangers on the doorknobs of homes in selected neighborhoods. The red, white & blue hangers encouraged voters to go to the polls on Tuesday. Students received three hours of community service for their effort.

Here we are ready to "get-out-the-vote"!
