Community Service in October
Oakland School students committed to
community service at three sites on October 17: Jubilee
Kitchen, Frick Environmental Center, and Marino Field.
Service at these sites was arranged by Pittsburgh
Cares where volunteering is made easy. Thanks
to Justin Portis, PC Program Asistant, for his leadership
and assistance.
Jubilee Kitchen. Eight
volunteers spent the day setting up the dining area,
cooked, and served food to visitors to the kitchen,
They also helped with cleaning up after breakfast and
lunch were served.
Frick Environmental Center.
Twenty-five volunteers helped set up for the Bump at
Night program. They set up tables, tents, chairs, carried
hay and pumpkins. Volunteers also decorated the facility
with fun things for the program.
Marino Field. Fifteen
volunteers cleaned up the field and field house in preparation
for winter. They picked the area of trash, cut and raked,
and worked in the field house. These arrangements were
facilitated by the Oakland Planning & Development
Corporation.
